Pink Beach: The Colorful Symbol of Flores

Flores is widely known as a land of vibrant colors  from the cultural richness of Wae Rebo Village, the dramatic hills of Padar Island, to the thriving underwater life around Siaba Island. Yet, no place captures the essence of Flores more iconically than Pink Beach in Komodo National Park. Its naturally pink sand has become a symbol of the island’s exotic charm and is often listed among the top destinations in Indonesia.

For photographers, Pink Beach is a dream come true. The contrast between the pink sand, blue sea, and green hills creates a near-perfect visual composition. Many travelers make a point to visit during sunrise or sunset, when the light is soft and golden, resulting in stunning photographs that often go viral, inspiring others to add a Labuan Bajo tour to their bucket list.

But beyond its beauty, the experience of reaching Pink Beach is just as memorable. Sailing on a phinisi boat or joining an open trip from Labuan Bajo turns the journey into a true ocean adventure. Sometimes, along the way, travelers may spot dolphins leaping or seabirds gliding low over the water, adding to the sense of wonder before arriving at the beach.

Pink Beach also stands as a testament to the harmony between nature and humanity. Despite its popularity, the beach remains pristine, protected under the status of Komodo National Park, a conservation area dedicated to preserving the Komodo Dragon and its surrounding ecosystem.

For that reason, Pink Beach is not just a travel destination, it’s a natural heritage that reflects the pride and beauty of Indonesia.
